About Erika Wagner, RN
Erika Wagner, RN, serves as the Nursing Supervisor at The Freedom Center Residential in Buckeystown, Maryland. Since joining the organization prior to its opening in 2023, she has played a key role in establishing and developing the nursing department and medical team. Erika also helped establish the nursing department at The Freedom Center’s Brookeville location, assisting with the preparation and development of the team prior to the facility’s opening in 2025. Her experience in building nursing teams and establishing clinical processes reflects her strong leadership, dedication, and commitment to providing quality patient care.
With nearly 10 years of nursing experience, Erika developed a strong passion for mental health and addiction treatment and in helping people through some of the most difficult moments in their lives. Her extensive expertise includes medication-assisted treatment (MAT), residential care, and intensive outpatient programming (IOP), along with leadership experience in staff education, quality and infection control, unit management, and nursing supervision.
Erika earned her nursing degree in 2016 after initially completing a degree in Criminal Justice. While in nursing school, she served as Vice President of the Student Nursing Association and was recognized as a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
For Erika, nursing has always been about more than providing medical care. She believes in treating individuals with compassion, patience, and respect, while meeting them where they are without judgment. She takes pride in building trust with patients and helping them recognize that positive change is possible and supporting them throughout their recovery journey. As a leader, Erika enjoys supporting her team, helping staff grow, and creating a work environment where both employees and patients feel valued and respected. Her leadership style is centered on compassion, teamwork, accountability, and leading by example.
Outside of work, Erika enjoys spending time with her daughter, hiking, fishing, and photography. She believes in maintaining a balanced and holistic approach to life and brings that same perspective into her work each day, with the goal of helping others move toward healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives.
