Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

What is a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)?

A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a type of addiction or substance abuse treatment. This program caters to people needing a higher level of care than a standard outpatient program. On that same note, it does not restrict you as much as a residential or inpatient rehab. A PHP helps people recover from drugs in an environment that allows for a successful transition into the community.

Whether you’re transitioning from detox, inpatient hospitalization or just starting treatment for the first time, The Freedom Center’s multidisciplinary team will work with you to develop a plan of care customized to your individual needs. The Partial Hospitalization Program at The Freedom Center is a therapeutic and recovery-focused program offered during the day to support adults and help them to establish a foundation in recovery.

The Benefits of Partial Hospitalization Program

The Freedom Center PHP includes treatment five to six days per week, for six hours per day. Clients being in treatment throughout the day allows more opportunity to work with clinical and medical professionals on the substance use disorder and related mental health issues.

In addition, the cost of inpatient care high. If a client does not have adequate financing or insurance, they do not have to settle for less treatment. The Freedom Center Partial Hospitalization program offers a comprehensive and intense level of care that is more affordable than residential treatment.

PHP Treatment involves a combination of behavioral and holistic therapies, wellness education, recreational activities, and a higher level of psychiatric and medical support than outpatient treatment. Clients in treatment often have a need for additional psychiatric support to address their ongoing psychiatric issues, medication management, and access to additional psychiatric care. Clients being in treatment for a longer time throughout the day helps to ensure that each client receives the psychiatric support needed throughout their treatment and mental health disorders are treated alongside their addiction.

Partial Hospitalization Program at The Freedom Center

Recovery is a lifelong process and does not happen overnight. Many people complete residential treatment and continue with an intensive partial hospitalization program because they may still need help. Often, outpatient programs don’t provide enough structure, and PHP is required before that transition.

The Freedom Center employs a multi-disciplinary team of experienced mental health practitioners to provide treatment and facilitate groups. We keep group sizes small to help clients address their individual needs and get the attention they need.

We are recognized as a licensed substance abuse treatment facility in the state of Maryland, accredited by The Joint Commission. We offer a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP) & Outpatient (OP) levels of care.
